Fresh or faux flowers for your wedding? Here’s why I always recommend premium faux.

If you’ve ever pictured your wedding florals, chances are you pictured fresh blooms. It’s the default most people go to, and I understand why. But after years of styling weddings, engagements and milestone celebrations across Sydney and regional NSW, premium faux flowers are what I reach for again and again, and once I explain why, most of my clients feel exactly the same way.

Faux flowers have come a long way

Let’s get the biggest misconception out of the way first. When people hear “faux flowers,” they’re usually picturing something stiff, shiny and a bit sad sitting in a vase somewhere. That’s not what I’m talking about. The premium faux arrangements I create for Bless Events are designed to look, feel and photograph like the real thing, right down to the way the petals catch the light. Most guests never realise they’re not fresh until someone tells them.

Why I build my styling around faux

There are a few reasons faux flowers have become the foundation of how I style events.

  • They hold up beautifully no matter the weather, the venue or how long the celebration runs
  • They photograph just as stunning at 11pm as they do at golden hour
  • I’m not limited by what’s in season, so your colour palette and flower choices stay exactly as you envisioned them
  • They allow me to build layered, abundant arrangements that would be enormously expensive with fresh stems

I still remember styling a beachside wedding for a bride who wanted something dreamy, soft and romantic, informal in feel but breathtaking in the details. The day turned stormy, wind and rain hammering against the venue’s floor to ceiling glass. Inside, none of that mattered. The layered florals and glowing candlelight created a space that felt warm and untouched by the weather outside. That’s the kind of reliability faux flowers give you on the one day – you really can’t afford surprises.

But don’t fresh flowers feel more special?

I get asked this a lot, and honestly, I understand the sentiment. But what I’ve found is that it’s not the flowers themselves people fall in love with, it’s the atmosphere they help create. When your florals are paired thoughtfully with candles, tableware and the right backdrop, the overall feeling is what people remember, not whether a petal was grown or crafted.

If you’re planning a celebration and want styling that looks incredible in every photo and holds up no matter what the day throws at it, I’d love to talk through your vision.
